My Choices
Build a little path of choices — first this, then that. Every tap speaks out loud and shows up big, and the 👀 button takes the pick full-screen for a grown-up. Free, browser-only, and everything stays on this device.
This is the web edition of My Choices from the Neuro-M app. Your path, your active tiles and the path length stay in this browser on this device — nothing is uploaded and no account is needed. Speech comes from your device's built-in voice; pick the one that sounds kindest in the Voice row below. The app edition adds true offline use, a full-screen kiosk mode and a pre-recorded human voice.
⚙️ Which choices?
Tap a tile to turn it on or off — at least three stay on.
How this board works
You build a path of two to four choices — first this, then that — and the person taps through it. Every tap speaks the choice aloud in the browser's own voice, and the 👀 button shows the current pick full-screen for a grown-up across the room. It is a first-then board: the classic AAC structure that makes a sequence visible — “first shoes, then park” — with each step spoken as it's chosen. Everything stays on this device; there is no account, no upload, and no way for the board's contents to leave.
Why it is built this way
Real choices are a small, portable form of agency, and this board exists to make offering them easy. The two-to-four step limit is deliberate: a short path is one that can actually be completed, and a completed path is a choice that actually got honored. The first-then shape comes straight from AAC practice — sequences made visible reduce the load of holding the plan in mind, which is exactly the load a hard day doesn't have room for. And the big-view button exists because communication sometimes needs distance: the person picks, the grown-up across the room sees it, no shouting required.
How to use it well
- Offer choices you will honor. The board's entire value is that taps are real. A choice that can be vetoed after the tap is a lesson in futility, and boards learn fast.
- Start with two. Two real choices beat four hypothetical ones; the path can grow when the person does.
- Use it for ordinary days — snack order, walk route, which shirt — not only for the hard moments. A board used daily is there when it matters.
- Let the person change their mind mid-path. Retapping is information, not misbehavior.
What this is not
- Not a reward chart. Nothing here earns anything — it's a way of offering real options, not a way of dispensing approval.
- Not a compliance tool. A first-then board that only ever precedes things the person doesn't want stops being believed; this one is built for honest sequences.
- Not speech therapy. A support for communication, not a treatment.
Questions people ask
Why only two to four steps?
Because sequences get heavier the longer they get. Two is a real choice, four is a plan for someone who wants one — and past that the path stops being support and starts being a demand.
Does it remember my paths?
The board you built stays in this browser's storage on this device until you change it. Nothing syncs, nothing uploads — same privacy rule as the whole family.
What's the difference between this and a reward chart?
A reward chart tracks performance over time and pays out approval; a choice board offers real options right now and expects nothing back. This page has no points, no stars, and no history of what was “earned” — the only thing it tracks is which option is showing, because the person doing the choosing is the point, not their progress.
Does the big view have a purpose beyond being big?
Yes — it's communication across distance. A pick shown full-screen reads from across the room, which means the person choosing doesn't need to call out and the grown-up doesn't need to hover. Independence on one side, awareness on the other, nobody shouting.
Can it be used by speaking people too?
Yes — it's a choice board, not a diagnosis. Plenty of fluent speakers pick better when the options are visible and spoken; that need isn't anyone's alone.
