Questions people ask
Why does my threshold move over time?
Because it is calibrated, not fixed. Each honest “too much?” answer nudges the boundary toward your lived reality — early readings are generic; later readings are yours. If the number starts feeling accurate, that calibration is why.
Why is “masking” one of the five inputs?
Because performing takes energy that has to come from the same budget as noise and light. The camouflaging literature treats masking effort as a real, countable cost (Hull et al., 2017), and the site's own Energy Ledger exists to track it — this meter just lets you include it in the load picture as it happens.
Does the microphone record me?
No. The live noise reading analyses the audio stream inside the page and shows a number; nothing is recorded, stored or uploaded, and closing the tab ends it.
